Pakatan Harapan and Amanah will continue prioritising the people and nation over party interests, says Mohamad Sabu.
KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) will continue an approach that always prioritises the interests of the people and the nation over party and personal interests.
Amanah President Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said PH does not need to panic over the cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN), but should instead face it with maturity and continue working hard for the people.
“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remains constantly committed to defending the Malays and upholding Islam, not through fear, but through policies that yield real benefits for the religion, race, and country.
“We will continue to defend Islam as the religion of the Federation, the institution of the Malay Rulers, the Malay language, and Bumiputera rights as enshrined in the Constitution, while building a stable, progressive nation respected by the world,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Mohamad said PH will also never get trapped in political games based on sentiment and division.
Mohamad who is also the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security also emphasised that narratives portraying the Malays as being constantly under threat must stop, as the government’s main responsibility is to build self-confidence among the people.
“Defending the Malays is not about repeating narratives that the Malays are always under threat. If we keep instilling a sense of weakness, when will we build strength? The government’s responsibility is to build confidence, not sow fear.
“A strong Malay is not one who lives in fear, but one who is knowledgeable, dignified, has integrity, is self-reliant, and is brave enough to compete with anyone,” he said.
Mohamad added that he is confident the Malay community today is growing more mature, courageous in its self-reliance, and no longer easily fooled by endless political sentiment games.
“I, like all of you, want to see the birth of a Malay generation that is knowledgeable, possesses integrity, is self-reliant, and is brave enough to compete with anyone. Malays whose economy is solid, who are able to master technology, and who can take on the world just like other races in this world.
“They (the Malays) are no longer a race relying solely on handouts, and Malays today are increasingly brave, self-reliant, and vocal in standing up for the truth,” he said.
