A foreign worker dies after being electrocuted while installing a lamp post in Kampung Malinja, Nabawan.
NABAWAN: A 29-year-old foreign worker died after he was believed to have been electrocuted while carrying out lamp post installation works in Kampung Malinja, Nabawan today.
In a statement, the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre said it received a call regarding the incident at 11.49 am.
“A team from the Nabawan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), comprising six personnel, arrived at the scene, located about four kilometres from the station at 11.56 am.
“The Operations Commander reported that the male victim was believed to have suffered an electric shock while carrying out lamp post installation at the location,” it said.
According to the statement, the team then extricated the victim from the hazardous area.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer and was subsequently handed over to the police for further action.
The operation ended at 12.15 pm.
