KL police investigate possible negligence in HELP University AC gas blast that killed one student, injured nine; building returned to owners.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are conducting a comprehensive investigation into the air conditioning gas explosion at HELP University in Bukit Damansara, including examining the possibility of negligence.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus stated that while there is no preliminary evidence of negligence so far, it remains a primary focus of the probe.

“Typically, in cases involving disasters or incidents of this nature, the investigation involves all relevant parties and examines every aspect, including the possibility of negligence,” he told reporters.

Fadil added that if negligence is found to have caused injury, police will not hesitate to take action against responsible parties under the law.

The case is currently classified as a Sudden Death Report, with the investigation still in its early stages.

He confirmed the affected building has been handed back to the owners for their use.

Three injured victims remain hospitalised while one other has been discharged.

The explosion occurred at approximately 11:40 am last Monday, killing one man and injuring nine others.

The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Soo Yu Juan, a third-year Mechanical Engineering student from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman.
