Trump’s MAGA movement escalates rhetoric against progressive white women, linking attacks to a broader offensive on modern feminism and masculinity.
WASHINGTON: Progressive white women have become a primary target for intensified attacks from President Donald Trump’s MAGA movement in recent weeks.
The death of protester Renee Good in Minnesota has fuelled particularly harsh commentary from conservative figures.
Radio host Erick Erickson described Good with the acronym “AWFUL,” or Affluent White Female Urban Liberal.
Right-wing comedian Vincent Oshana wrote on X that “White liberal women are a cancer on the nation,” claiming they involve themselves in causes out of boredom.
Columnist David Marcus derisively labelled women protesting Trump’s immigration actions as “organized gangs of wine moms.”
This rhetoric coincides with a broader offensive on the American right against modern feminism and promoting traditional masculinity.
Some figures, including Christian nationalists, have called for a re-evaluation of women’s societal roles.
Firebrand pastor Dale Partridge recently declared the 19th Amendment granting women’s suffrage “a moral and political tragedy for America.”
Gender studies professor Juliet Williams said such comments reflect a patriarchal worldview requiring male superiority.
The Trump administration has actively promoted a masculine persona, exemplified by officials like Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth.
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently praised Trump’s reportedly high testosterone levels.
Williams argues that within this ideology, “hatred of white liberal women is really necessary” as they challenge Christian right ideals.
While women overall favoured Democratic candidates in recent elections, majorities of white women voted for Trump.
A growing political divergence is evident among younger voters, with Gen Z women leaning progressive and young men increasingly conservative.
Attacks may aim to influence young women conscious of their social value being tied to appearance, according to Williams.
Women in Trump’s orbit often present a specific aesthetic of stylish clothing, heavy makeup, and maintained appearances.
Podcaster Katie Miller, wife of adviser Stephen Miller, openly mocks the appearance of left-wing women.
“Conservative women are just hotter than Liberal women,” she wrote on X, linking this to conservative families having more children.
This sentiment is echoed by recent pregnancy announcements from several prominent Trump-aligned women, including the Millers and Vice President JD Vance’s family.
