A Malaysian student recently took to social media to express her frustration after claiming her parents repeatedly asked for her scholarship money — despite still having their own income.
In a post on Threads, she shared that her parents explained that since she now received money, she should be treated as an adult.
“How do I stop my parents who keep asking for my scholarship money.
“The problem is, they actually have money and they’re still working, but they keep twisting it by saying that since I receive money now, I should be treated as an adult. so I should give her monthly money because it’s my responsibility as a child.”
The post quickly gained traction, with many netizens rushing to the comments section to advise the student to keep her scholarship money for purely schooling purposes.

One user said. “That scholarship money is for you to spend on your studies, not to provide financial support to your parents. Period.”
