LA Olympics chief apologises for ‘regrettable’ Maxwell emails

Los Angeles 2028 chief Casey Wasserman expresses deep regret over decades-old flirty emails with Ghislaine Maxwell, released in new Epstein files.

CASEY Wasserman, the chairman of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic organising committee, has apologised for decades-old email exchanges with Ghislaine Maxwell.

The flirty emails from 2003 were released in a fresh cache of files from the US Justice Department’s investigation into the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light,” Wasserman said in a statement.

He emphasised that he had “never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.”

Wasserman noted his only association was a 2002 humanitarian trip as part of a Clinton Foundation delegation on Epstein’s plane.

“I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them,” he added.

Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for trafficking underage girls for Epstein.

She was convicted in 2021 for helping Epstein recruit, groom and abuse underage victims between 1994 and 2004.

Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.

The release of the new files has added fresh scrutiny to the politically explosive case.
