Police are seeking a man to assist their investigation after a 52-year-old woman was found dead with multiple stab wounds in her home.
ALOR SETAR: Police are hunting a suspect after a woman was found stabbed to death in her home here.
The body of Zahrullail Basir, 52, was discovered with three stab wounds to her body, including her stomach, and cuts to her head and palms.
Kota Setar district police chief ACP Syed Basri Syed Ali said the district control centre received a call at 8.45 am from a man reporting his mother had been stabbed and beaten.
The victim, who lived at the house with three of her children, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body was sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Syed Basri said a handbag containing a mobile phone, cash and jewellery was missing from the scene.
Police are actively tracking down a suspect to assist with the investigation.
They have requested an individual named Amirul Shafiq Shamsul Zahari, with IC number 970524-02-5557, to come forward.
He is urged to contact the investigating officer or present himself at any police station.
The public is advised not to speculate or spread unverified information.
Police have requested cooperation from witnesses, especially the victim’s immediate family or anyone with information.
