Manchester City’s Rodri accuses officials of bias after a controversial Spurs equaliser, claiming referees “don’t want” the champions to win.
MANCHESTER: Manchester City midfielder Rodri launched a furious attack on match officials after his side’s 2-2 draw at Tottenham, accusing them of not wanting the champions to win.
City were leading 2-0 in north London when a Dominic Solanke goal was allowed to stand despite appearing to foul Marc Guehi in the build-up.
Solanke later equalised with a spectacular scorpion kick, leaving City six points behind league leaders Arsenal.
“I know we won too much and the people don’t want us to win but the referee has to be neutral and for me honestly, it’s not fair,” Rodri told broadcaster Stan Sport.
He described the decision as a clear foul that changed the game’s momentum.
Rodri claimed it was the latest in a series of decisions going against City, echoing recent complaints from manager Pep Guardiola.
“It’s not today. It’s two or three games in a row and I don’t know why, honestly,” the Spaniard added.
