“This is why I don’t like using public transport”: Malaysian calls out bus driver for napping in the bus

A Malaysian’s viral post criticises bus driver napping during scheduled service, igniting online debate about punctuality and reliability of public transport.

A fed-up Malaysian has taken to Threads to vent about the country’s unreliable public transport. Sharing his latest experience, he wrote: “This is why I don’t like taking public transport. The schedule said 4:00, by 4:15 the driver was just lying around chatting with a friend. It was really frustrating.”

hs3ing pointed out “Malaysia public transportation will never be punctual because of these mindsets. Imagine if we had more frequent and punctual bus services, it would solve all last-mile connections in the city as well as intercity traffic.”

“Living in KL, at least you need a motorcycle. You can’t 100% rely on public transport. You could go all around KL using buses, but while waiting, you could go to the toilet and the bus still hasn’t arrived.” wrote pendekar50sen.

“From experience, you can’t just post on social media. I usually call the RapidKL/MRT hotline or WhatsApp them. Tell them the plate number, time, and station. They will sort it out because sometimes drivers skip routes as they like,” hyena_15 commented.

“Thanks for sharing on Threads. I didn’t realise this still happens. Don’t forget to report it to their HQ as well.” matmunirss commented.

foxbulanofficial pointed out “Punctuality – one thing that never changes in Malaysian public transport. Sad but true.”
“It’s because they have no competition, so they act as they like. In the past, with 2–3 competitors, they would race to complete trips and pack as many passengers as possible,” syafique wrote.

assafa_usain wrote “Today was another terrible day for me. I waited ages for a Rapid bus.

The app showed it was one minute away, but instead a Selangor bus arrived. That wasn’t enough, I waited again and the bus that came was the ‘001 Jom Naik Bas’. I don’t blame the driver, I blame RapidKL. An hour of my time was wasted just waiting for a bus.”
