Selangor FC condemns flare-burning incident by fans, pledges full cooperation with police and calls for a positive football culture.
SHAH ALAM: Selangor Football Club has pledged full cooperation with authorities following a fan misconduct incident.
The club condemned the burning of a flare by a minority of its supporters at the Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge last Sunday.
Selangor FC expressed its deepest regret over the incident, which occurred before its Super League match against Terengganu FC.
“The club will not compromise and condemns any behaviour that violates the law and threatens public safety,” it said in a statement.
It stressed that such misconduct opposes the values championed by the club and the Selangor football community.
Selangor FC also appreciated the Terengganu police for their stern action to protect public safety and order.
The club called on fans to always demonstrate a responsible attitude and show mutual respect.
It added that unity is needed to nurture a more positive and healthy football fan culture.
A total of 33 Selangor FC fans were remanded yesterday to assist in the investigation.
The club stated it is open to discussions with any supporter group to ensure local football safety.
