16 Bersatu MPs support a senior leader’s call for Muhyiddin Yassin to resign as party president, citing a need for new leadership to unite and win elections.

KUALA LUMPUR: 16 Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) members of parliament have publicly backed a call for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to resign immediately as party president.

The group issued a joint statement supporting the position of the party’s Dewan Rakyat chief whip, Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee. They acknowledged Muhyiddin’s past services but stated the Pagoh MP could no longer unite the party or lead it to electoral victory.

“We are confident that (deputy president) Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin is capable of serving well as acting president,” their statement read.
