Flood victims in Kinta drop to 11 as rivers remain at danger level

The number of flood evacuees in Kinta has fallen to 11, though two rivers in Perak are still at dangerous levels with more rain forecast.

IPOH: The number of flood victims in Kinta has decreased to 11 people from five families as of 8 am today.

This is down from 26 people from 10 families recorded yesterday.

All evacuees are currently sheltering at the Dewan Kg Tengku Hussein Manjoi relief centre.

“All the victims are from Kampung Manjoi and Kampung Tengku Hussein,” the Perak State Disaster Management Secretariat said in a statement.

Meanwhile, two rivers in the Hilir Perak and Muallim districts remain at danger levels.

Sungai Bidor in Changkat Jong is at 3.95 metres, while Sungai Slim River in Slim has reached 25.46 metres.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecast rain this morning in several districts.

The affected areas are Larut, Matang, Selama, Manjung, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta and Kampar.
