Sarawak government will construct a complex in KL with hostel facilities to accommodate students from the state studying in Peninsular Malaysia.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sarawak government will construct a Sarawak complex in Kuala Lumpur next year to provide accommodation and meeting facilities for students from the state.
Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg announced the project will include hostel facilities and other infrastructure for Sarawakian students across Peninsular Malaysia.
He confirmed the land is ready for development and the building will stand firm and splendid in the heart of the capital city.
Abang Johari expressed hope that the complex will provide benefit and convenience to the people of Sarawak during his address at the Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2025 dinner ceremony.
The event at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre was attended by Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who chaired this year’s Lan Berambeh, joined Sarawak elected representatives and approximately 6,000 people of Sarawak descent.
In another development, Abang Johari announced the state government’s plan to provide free tertiary education for students at institutions of higher learning in Sarawak.
This initiative will ease the burden on families, particularly fishermen, farmers, and the B40 group whose children can now pursue tertiary education. – Bernama
