Two Perkeso contributors receive temporary disablement benefits after separate motorcycle accidents outside working hours under the Lindung 24 Jam scheme
MELAKA: A security guard and a technician are among the first recipients of the Temporary Disablement Benefit (FHUS) under the Social Security Organisation’s (PERKESO) Non-Employment Injury Scheme (LINDUNG 24 Jam scheme) in the state.
The two received the benefits after they were injured in separate motorcycle accidents outside working hours.
PERKESO Melaka, in a statement today, said security guard Abdul Rashid Haron, 64, an active contributor under the scheme, qualified for the benefit after losing control of his motorcycle while riding home from a mosque on his day off on June 11, after performing Asar prayers.
“Abdul Rashid suffered a fractured left wrist and received treatment at Melaka Hospital.
“Throughout his medical leave from June 12 to July 13, he received an income replacement totalling RM576, while the final amount of benefits will be assessed later, as he is scheduled for several follow-up treatments at the hospital,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, technician Mohd Iskadar Ramli, 38, qualified for the FHUS after falling from his motorcycle on a sandy road surface while returning from Maghrib prayers at a surau near his house.
Mohd Iskadar received initial treatment at a nearby clinic before being referred to a private hospital in the state after he was confirmed to have fractured his left shoulder.
He received an income replacement totalling RM864 during his medical leave from June 7 to July 24.
PERKESO said it would continue to monitor the recovery of both contributors and provide rehabilitation treatment to ensure they could return to work once fully recovered.
“The incidents that befell both contributors prove that accidents can happen at any time, including outside working hours, thereby emphasising the importance of comprehensive social security protection.
“The LINDUNG 24 Jam scheme, introduced by Perkeso on June 1, provides protection to employees who meet with non-work-related accidents outside working hours to ensure contributors continue to receive protection and support when facing misfortunes,” the statement added.
