PSG beat Brest 3-0 to regain Ligue 1 lead after Marseille lost 2-1 at Lens, dropping to third place as Hakimi scored twice for the champions.
Paris Saint-Germain returned to the Ligue 1 summit with a 3-0 victory over Brest on Saturday.
The reigning champions capitalised after Marseille lost 2-1 at Lens in the late match.
Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring after 29 minutes, finishing Vitinha’s chipped pass with a low shot.
Hakimi doubled PSG’s lead ten minutes later, firing into the roof of the net after combining with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Brest missed a chance to reduce the deficit when Romain Del Castillo’s 59th-minute penalty was saved.
Desire Doue sealed the win with a late stoppage-time goal for the visitors.
PSG manager Luis Enrique expressed relief after two consecutive league draws.
“I’m very happy with the success, it’s always difficult to win at Brest,” he said.
Earlier, Mason Greenwood had put Marseille ahead in the 17th minute at Lens.
Odsonne Edouard equalised from the penalty spot after Benjamin Pavard’s foul.
Pavard then scored an own goal in the 53rd minute to complete Marseille’s collapse.
The defeat dropped Marseille to third place, two points behind leaders PSG.
Lens moved into second position with the victory.
In Monaco, new manager Sebastien Pocognoli celebrated his first win as Mohammed Salisu’s early header secured a 1-0 victory over Toulouse.
The 38-year-old Belgian described the achievement as wrapping up a good 10 days together with his squad. – AFP
