KUALA LUMPUR: The data collected through the MYJalan application will serve as master data for analysing and repairing damaged roads in the country, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi (pix).
He said that the data can be used by the Works Ministry, state governments, and local authorities (PBT) to assist in the formulation of plans, particularly when seeking an allocation from the Finance Ministry for road maintenance.
“As of this morning, the ministry has received a total of 5,000 complaints via the MYJalan app since it was launched, and these complaints will be used not only to carry out road repair work but also to collect road-related data.
“We have also analysed the complaints. Only 27 per cent of the 5,000 complaints received involved federal roads, which fall under the purview of the Works Ministry.
“The rest are roads under the supervision of the state governments and PBTs,” he said when appearing as a guest on RTM’s Selamat Pagi Malaysia programme in conjunction with the One Year Administration of the MADANI Government today.
The MYJalan campaign, launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in August, is an initiative by the Works Ministry to provide road users with an additional avenue to make complaints related to road damage.
Meanwhile, Nanta said that the adoption of the Open Payment Toll Collection System (SPT) has provided the public with a variety of options to pay for tolls.
“Upon assuming office, I expedited and stepped up my efforts (towards implementation of the SPT)…now there are several tolls that offer this service.
“It is important because there have been complaints from road users, and the congestion at the toll plazas occurred because we focused on only one method, either Touch ‘n Go or RFID,” he added. –Bernama
