Family hopes missing elderly man returns home safe

KLUANG: The family of an elderly man who is also an ex-military personnel is hoping to find him safe, after he was feared missing at around 7 pm yesterday.

Mohamad Shahfullah Ab Manan, 29, said his father Ab Manan Keri (pix), 73, had gone with his sister and brother at 2 pm to Kluang town to run some errands.

He said while his older sister and younger brother were running the errands, his father walked to the Dataran Tasik Kluang to attend a high tea event.

“Father, who was dressed in the Commando Veterans Club attire walked there right away. He was dressed so because he was a retiree from the special forces regiment.

“We got worried when father, who should have returned from the event, did not show up even though it was already 7 pm,“ he said when contacted, today.

He said efforts to find his father continued around the city of Kluang, including near Dataran Tasik Kluang, given that yesterday, heavy rain from 4 pm resulted in flash floods in several areas.

According to him, only a bag that his father had brought to the event in Jalan Ismail was found near Kelab Melayu Kluang.

“Father has yet to be found even though search efforts were carried out until late last night and will continue, and we have also filed a police report over his disappearance.

“My father has no memory problems and there are also no family issues between us, those with any information about his whereabouts can contact me at 017-783 3650,“ he said.

Meanwhile, Kluang District Police chief ACP Bahrin Mohd Nor confirmed that a police report had been lodged over a missing elderly man. –Bernama
