BUDI95 e-hailing driver petrol subsidy quota to increase again soon

Government to announce further BUDI95 quota increase for e-hailing drivers in November after reviewing fuel usage data and appeals

PETALING JAYA: The government will soon announce another quota increase for full-time e-hailing drivers under the BUDI MADANI RON95 initiative.

Treasury Secretary-General Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican stated this revision considers driver appeals and fuel usage data submitted by e-hailing companies.

The government and Transport Ministry have met with e-hailing providers and agreed in principle to improve subsidy eligibility levels.

This improvement will be announced shortly and take effect within November itself.

On October 13, the government had already increased the BUDI95 eligibility ceiling for full-time e-hailing drivers to 600 litres monthly from 300 litres.

That previous increase benefited nearly 58,000 e-hailing drivers nationwide.

Meanwhile, Johan said the government disagrees with calls for more drastic measures to reduce the national fiscal deficit.

He explained next year’s economic outlook is expected to moderate compared to this year.

Therefore, the government must balance strengthening its fiscal position with providing adequate fiscal support for economic activities. – Bernama
