Housing Minister Nga Kor Ming emphasises close media cooperation after apologising for recent incident with journalist during project launch.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Housing and Local Government Ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to media freedom and collaboration with press organisations.

Minister Nga Kor Ming stated that the MADANI Government consistently prioritises media freedom and has no intention of sidelining the media’s role.

He emphasised that a close relationship between KPKT and media representatives is crucial for effectively communicating government policies to the public.

KPKT held a morning tea session with major media associations at its Putrajaya office to strengthen this partnership.

The session included representatives from the National Union of Journalists Malaysia, Malaysian Media Council and Gerakan Media Merdeka.

“This session served as an open platform for exchanging views and ideas towards strengthening synergy between the ministry and the media,” KPKT said in a statement.

The gathering aimed to advance the Malaysia MADANI agenda for public well-being and national prosperity.

Also present were KPKT secretary-general Datuk Nor Azman Taib, NUJ president Low Boon Tat and secretary-general Teh Athira Mohamed Yusof.

The meeting followed Nga’s recent apology and withdrawal of a statement made against a journalist during a project launch in Bukit Bintang.

A viral video showed Nga responding sharply to a media representative’s question, drawing criticism from various quarters including NUJ and Geramm. – Bernama
