Malaysia’s Cabinet praised Anwar’s South Korea visit as successful, with productive meetings including one with China’s President Xi Jinping.
PUTRAJAYA: The Cabinet has described Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent official visit to South Korea as highly successful.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said all meetings and bilateral discussions during the visit proceeded smoothly.
“The Prime Minister also met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the South Korea visit,” said Fahmi, who is also the MADANI Government spokesman.
President Xi expressed appreciation for progress in US-China trade discussions facilitated through initial talks in Kuala Lumpur during the ASEAN Summit.
Anwar attended the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders’ Meeting in South Korea from October 30 to November 1.
In a separate development, the Cabinet agreed to make the Putrajaya Festival of Ideas an annual event.
The Prime Minister commended Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and the organising team for the programme’s success.
Putrajaya FOI 2025 features participation from various parties including ASEAN secretary-general Dr Kao Kim Hourn and Southeast Asian higher education ministers.
The festival, running from November 4 to 8, expects nearly 500,000 physical visitors and about two million participants overall.
Approximately 1.5 million virtual attendees from around the world are anticipated to join the event.
Now in its second year, the Putrajaya FOI serves as a platform for idea exchange and knowledge-based solutions.
The festival aims to contribute to public well-being and national progress through creativity and innovation.
