Perkeso disburses over RM10 million to Kelantan contributors

Perkeso has distributed RM10 million in benefits to 2,000 Kelantan contributors, providing crucial support through various social security schemes.

PASIR MAS: The Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) has channelled over RM10 million in benefits to more than 2,000 contributors in Kelantan between January and October this year.

Kelantan Perkeso director Nora Yaacob said the amount covered various protection schemes including invalidity benefits, dependents’ benefits and funeral management benefits.

It also included survivors’ pension, morbid allowance and other forms of assistance.

She said the initiative demonstrates Perkeso’s continuous commitment to safeguarding contributor welfare during accidents or income loss.

“Perkeso offers a wide range of contribution schemes that not only benefit contributors but also protect their families in the event of an accident or fatalities,” she told reporters at Kampung Nibong, Lemal.

She confirmed that over RM10 million has been distributed under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 and the Housewives’ Social Security Act 2022 as of October.

Nora earlier presented a survivors’ pension and Kotak Prihatin Perkeso aid package to Hasliza Hasbullah, widow of the late Salmi Awang.

Salmi, a 56-year-old cement mixer truck driver, died of a heart attack in an accident on October 22 at Jalan Perempuan Zainab 2, Kubang Kerian.

The family received RM3,000 in funeral management benefits and a monthly survivors’ pension of RM1,500.42.

This pension is payable for life or until their children reach 21 years old.

Nora said the assistance would help ease the financial burden of the widow and her four school-going children.

She urged employers to register their workers with Perkeso to ensure welfare protection during accidents or income loss.

Meanwhile, Hasliza expressed gratitude that her late husband had been a Perkeso contributor.

“These benefits have given me some relief and the means to continue providing for my children’s education as a single mother,” she said. – Bernama
