Anwar sets conditions for PH cooperation in Sabah state election

Anwar Ibrahim says parties seeking cooperation with Pakatan Harapan must uphold good governance, fight corruption and champion people’s welfare

KOTA KINABALU: Any party seeking cooperation with Pakatan Harapan in the Sabah state election must uphold good governance and champion people’s welfare.

PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said potential partners must eradicate corruption and remain committed to developing Sabah.

The Prime Minister stated he is open to working with parties having clear intentions and genuine commitment to Sabah’s development.

“Whoever wishes to cooperate with us must adhere to these conditions,” he said at PKR’s candidate announcement ceremony.

Anwar introduced 10 PKR candidates and announced PH will contest 23 state assembly seats.

He urged Sabah voters to carefully evaluate candidates and avoid falling for false promises.

“We can stir up excitement. We can let people applaud. But in the end, the leaders become wealthy while the cheering rakyat remain poor,” he warned.

The Prime Minister cautioned that racial politics has greatly harmed the nation and fuelled unnecessary hatred.

He stressed that political stability and federal-state cooperation must be strengthened to safeguard people’s welfare.

Anwar called on Sabah voters to seize this election opportunity to work as a team for state development.

“This is our chance to work as a team,” he told the gathering.

He announced all PH coalition parties will use the PH logo as their common election symbol.

Anwar reaffirmed PH’s commitment to maintaining good relations between Sabah and federal governments.
