Kuching security guard sentenced to 5 years jail and caning for possessing offensive weapons in public under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
KUCHING: A security guard was sentenced to five years in jail and one stroke of the cane by the Sessions Court here today for possession of offensive weapons in public.
Judge Noorhisham Mohd Jaafar handed down the sentence on Ahmad Noor Abdullah, 39, who pleaded guilty to the charge. He was ordered to serve the sentence from the date of arrest.
Ahmad Noor was charged with possessing a samurai sword and a knife in a car parked in front of a convenience store on Jalan Ban Hock here at about 6.45 am last Saturday (Nov 8).

The charge, framed under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
According to the facts of the case, the weapons were found in the car following a police inspection on the suspicious-looking vehicle.
The knife was found in the storage compartment between the front seats of the car, while the samurai sword was at the top of the rear seat.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Adriana Maisarah Mohd Farid, while the accused was unrepresented. – Bernama
