Over 10 influencers and traders in Kelantan counselled for inappropriate live content on social media.
KOTA BHARU: More than 10 individuals in Kelantan, including social media influencers and traders, have received counselling for inappropriate online conduct during live broadcasts since last year.
State Islamic Development, Dakwah, Information and Public Relations Committee chairman Mohd Asri Mat Daud confirmed the cases were primarily detected during live sessions on platforms like TikTok.
“When such cases arise, we call them in for counselling,” he told reporters after the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly sitting at Kota Darulnaim today.
He said the state government will continue monitoring such activities to maintain online decorum.
The counselling sessions are conducted by the Kelantan Islamic Religious Affairs Department under Section 21(1) of the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code Enactment.
No prosecutions have been made so far, with authorities opting for educational approaches instead.
Mohd Asri clarified that action can only be taken for offences committed within the state’s jurisdiction.
Separately, he revealed that 17 cases involving individuals from the LGBT community had also received counselling through advisory programmes.
“We provide counselling for various issues, including cases involving men dressing as women and women dressing as men,” he added.
The state continues its efforts to address social media misconduct through preventive measures rather than punitive actions. – Bernama
