Two Sabah Peace Party candidates miss nomination deadline for state polls

SPP candidates for Sulabayan and Bugaya seats fail to submit nomination forms on time, missing their chance to contest in the Sabah state election.

KOTA KINABALU: Two Sabah Peace Party candidates have missed their opportunity to contest in the upcoming state election after failing to submit nomination forms before the 10 am deadline.

Abdul Hata Abdul Hala, the party’s candidate for Sulabayan, arrived at the Semporna Community Arena Hall nomination centre after nominations closed.

Ahmad Daud Awang, who intended to contest in Bugaya, also failed to submit his nomination papers on time.

Both seats are among the three state seats within the Semporna parliamentary constituency, alongside Senallang.

The nomination closure marks the beginning of the 14-day campaign period for the Sabah polls.

Campaigning will continue until 11.59 pm on November 28 across all 73 contested seats.

The Election Commission has scheduled early voting for November 25, with polling day set for November 29. – Bernama
