Empowering SMEs through Buy Malaysian Products Campaign

LOTUSS Stores Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia) has launched the eighth Buy Malaysian Products Campaign (BMC) in collaboration with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, where the annual campaign continues to serve as a platform for Malaysian SMEs to showcase their locally produced goods, connecting them with a wider audience of consumers nationwide.

The initiative features product showcases, cooking demonstrations, samplings and in-store promotions, giving shoppers the opportunity to explore and purchase Malaysian-made products directly from participating SMEs at affordable prices.

Launching the BMC was Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh and Lotus’s Malaysia corporate services executive director Azliza Azmel.

“At Lotus’s, we believe local SMEs are the backbone of the Malaysian economy. Through this campaign, we want to continue being a platform that helps them grow, scale and reach more customers. Our long-term partnership with the ministry reflects our shared commitment to driving domestic economic growth and promoting national self-sufficiency. By showcasing local innovation and quality, we hope to inspire more Malaysians to support homegrown brands, ensuring every ringgit spent creates a ripple of positive impact for local businesses and communities,” said Azliza.

Beyond BMC, Lotus’s Malaysia is continuously investing in SME development and capability-building initiatives, including SME Fairs held twice a year with offers up to 50% discounts on selected SME products, active participation in business matching sessions organised by the ministry and other government agencies to identify potential SME suppliers, SME Empowerment Seminars that benefitted over 400 individuals from 150 companies since 2024, with seven SMEs from the latest session now preparing to list their products at Lotus’s and ongoing business mentoring for existing SME suppliers to help them enhance the marketability of their products, to grow sales and strengthen quality.

The 2025 BMC features 19 participating SMEs, including 11 entrepreneurs from Lotus’s recent SME Empowerment Seminar 2025. Lotus’s has also welcomed five social entrepreneurs to the campaign, showcasing initiatives that promote activewear for persons with disabilities, employment opportunities for special needs adults, environmental education programmes, food and beverage empowerment initiatives, as well as sustainable protein solutions.
