The Malaysia Competition Commission is investigating 87 umrah operators for suspected price-fixing, a practice that prevents consumers from getting the best deals.

KUANTAN: A total of 87 umrah operators are currently under investigation by the Malaysia Competition Commission over allegations of forming a cartel.

Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said the probe follows indications of price-fixing among several companies providing umrah travel services.

She stated that when prices are fixed, consumers are unable to obtain the best deals, which is why MyCC plays a key role in curbing such cartel activities.

Fuziah made these remarks after officiating the MADANI Rahmah Mega Aidilfitri Sales Programme 2026 at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Mosque compound in Sungai Isap Perdana.

She also announced that 133 MADANI Rahmah Mega Aidilfitri Sales Programmes have been implemented across Pahang throughout Ramadan this year.

Another 45 programmes will be held until March 30 to enable more people to obtain essential goods at more affordable prices for the festive season.
