Malaysia and Singapore share serious concern over Strait of Hormuz closure and attacks on infrastructure, urging dialogue and a ceasefire.
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and Singapore have expressed serious concern over the escalating conflict in West Asia and its global repercussions.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the shared position was reached during a telephone conversation with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
They discussed the latest developments, which are increasingly affecting countries worldwide, including those in Southeast Asia.
Anwar highlighted specific concerns over the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on critical infrastructure.
He said such actions could disrupt global oil market stability and regional energy security.
“Malaysia supports the United Nations’ call for an immediate ceasefire and urges all parties to return to the negotiating table,” Anwar stated in a Facebook post.
The two leaders also agreed that all disputes must be resolved through dialogue and diplomatic channels.
Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s readiness to support any efforts to de-escalate tensions.
He said the nation stands ready to help restore peace, justice and stability in West Asia.
