Residents of Kampung Tanah Putih face ongoing water disruptions due to unstable pressure and frequent pipe bursts, with the area being hardest hit.
GUA MUSANG: Residents of Kampung Tanah Putih are enduring persistent water supply disruptions. Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) attributes the issue to unstable pressure at a treatment plant and frequent main pipe bursts.
The utility company stated that operations at the new Bukit Chupak plant in February increased pressure in areas fed by the older Sungai Ketil plant. This has led to near-daily pipe bursts, particularly in Bandar Baru.
Frequent main pipe bursts and a leak at Sekolah Menengah Sains Gua Musang have also destabilised the main tank at the Sungai Ketil plant. Kampung Tanah Putih’s location as a high-lying end-user exacerbates the problem.
“When disruptions or frequent pipe bursts occur, it can take time for supply to return to normal,” AKSB said.
The company outlined proactive measures to minimise the impact. These include repairing burst pipes, deploying water tankers, and boosting output at the Sungai Ketil plant.
