The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living says only valid special permit holders can fill petrol or diesel into containers, with emergency exceptions below 20 litres.

KUALA LUMPUR: Only holders of a valid special permit are allowed to fill petrol or diesel into containers. The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) issued this reminder today.

It stated that for emergency situations, the permitted quantity is below 20 litres. “Compliance with these regulations is crucial to avoid any legal action,” the ministry posted on Facebook.

Applications for the special permit can be made online at the ministry’s official portal. There are 10 eligible categories for the permit.

These include forklift vehicles, water transport, and residents in rural and island areas. Food industry operators, water-based recreation, and agriculture and livestock sectors are also eligible.

Other categories are for emergency assistance, maintenance work, tourism, and small-scale construction. The announcement follows the prime minister’s address on fuel subsidies.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a temporary adjustment to the Budi MADANI RON95 programme quota. The monthly quota will be reduced from 300 litres to 200 litres per month effective April 1.

He cited the ongoing conflict in West Asia as the reason for the adjustment. However, he stressed that the subsidised price of RON95 petrol will remain at RM1.99 per litre.
