Kelantan’s Regent urges state government and citizens to prioritise economic growth, social harmony, and religious values, while highlighting tourism’s potential
KOTA BHARU: Kelantan Regent Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra has called on the state government and its people to focus on strengthening the economy and preserving social harmony.
He emphasised the need to respect religious values and uphold unity in line with the state’s Membangun Bersama Islam policy.
The Regent said it was everyone’s responsibility to maintain a peaceful environment by observing laws and established guidelines.
This compliance is crucial in all aspects of life, including sensitive matters like the construction of houses or places of worship.
“Such compliance not only reflects civic maturity, but also serves as an important foundation in preventing disputes and disharmony,” he said in his royal address.
He added that any action tarnishing religion or creating racial tension was unacceptable.
“Laws must be enforced fairly and firmly, accompanied by awareness programmes to ensure peace and harmony in this state continue to be preserved,” he stated.
Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra delivered the address at the opening of the first meeting of the fourth session of the 15th State Legislative Assembly.
He also highlighted the tourism sector as a significant catalyst for the state’s economic growth.
The Regent noted that Kelantan is blessed with natural beauty, cultural heritage, and unique traditions.
These attributes make it an attractive destination for both domestic and international tourists.
“I therefore call on the state government to intensify efforts to upgrade tourism facilities and expand tourism promotion in line with Visit Malaysia Year 2026,” he said.
He further urged the creation of support platforms involving psychological services and social support.
These platforms should also focus on environmental well-being and spiritual development, including providing recreational parks and sports facilities.
