Ng also raised recurring flood issues in several areas around Petaling Jaya, including Taman Sri Manja, Taman Dato Harun and Jalan 223, which he claimed continue to occur every year.

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR deputy secretary-general Bryan Ng has slammed the conduct of his party colleague, Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung, claiming the lawmaker has focused more on issuing media statements than delivering concrete solutions to local issues.

Ng, who is also vice-chief of the PKR Petaling Jaya division, said Lee’s claim that the Petaling Jaya parliamentary seat was no longer safe should reflect his own performance as a government representative.

According to him, Petaling Jaya has long been regarded as a stronghold for PKR and if the party fails to retain the seat in the next general election, Lee should be held responsible.

“After nearly three years as the Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya, the people have only seen one media statement after another without any truly effective follow-up action,” he said.

Ng also raised recurring flood issues in several areas around Petaling Jaya, including Taman Sri Manja, Taman Dato Harun and Jalan 223, which he claimed continue to occur every year.

He alleged that despite having direct access to ministries and technical agencies such as the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS), the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), Lee had failed to push for a more aggressive solution plan.

“The people want to see their elected representative on the ground and using his influence to find solutions, not merely issuing media statements and pointing fingers all the time. The people are tired of it,” he claimed.

At the same time, Ng alleged that the MP rarely attended PKR Central Leadership Council (MPP) meetings, even though the platform serves as the party’s official channel for raising public issues directly with the top leadership, including PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

He further claimed that Lee had never constructively raised public concerns during the meetings, but had instead been vocal outside the party, creating negative perceptions of the PKR leadership.

Ng also alleged that motions had been tabled during the Petaling Jaya division’s annual general meeting calling for Lee not to be re-nominated as a candidate due to dissatisfaction among grassroots members over his leadership.

According to him, Lee’s previous defeat in the division election also indicated that party members were losing confidence in him.

He also touched on the issue involving Taman Jaya Lake, alleging that Lee had merely proposed collaboration with universities through social media without offering more concrete solutions as a government MP.

“Petaling Jaya needs a representative who works towards solutions, not merely a champion of media statements,” he added.

theSun has reached out to Lee for comment.
