Sarawak’s state assembly passes a RM1.32 billion supplementary bill for services, allowances, and development costs.
KUCHING: The Sarawak State Legislative Assembly has unanimously passed the Supplementary Supply (2026) Bill, 2026, authorising the additional sum of RM1.32 billion for the cost of services incurred by various ministries and departments.
The bill was tabled by the Second Minister for Finance and New Economy, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, before being approved without amendments.
“The additional RM13.3 million is required by the State Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government to cater for an increase in special fixed monthly allowances and provision of medical benefits for the councillors, while RM188 million is for the provision of a 25 per cent discount on electricity bills for domestic consumers,” he said.
He also said that RM90 million is required by the Sarawak Premier Department to cater for allowances revision of the Ketua Kaum and Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), as well as for rental of government office buildings.
Another RM20 million is required by the State Social Welfare Department for preparation and participants in Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA) XXII in Selangor this year, and RM1 billion for appropriation to Statutory Funds to cover development expenditure, he added.
