Batu Uban gets RM2.35 million for seven infrastructure upgrades, with work starting next month and completion by December.
GEORGE TOWN: A total of RM2.35 million has been allocated to implement seven infrastructure maintenance and upgrading projects in the Batu Uban state constituency this year.
Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan said the projects involve Lip Sin, Sungai Dua, Bukit Jambul, Batu Uban, Bukit Gambir and Minden Heights areas with work expected to begin next month and be fully completed by December this year.
“Among the projects that will be implemented are the upgrading of pedestrian walkways at Lengkok Nipah and Jalan Helang, each involving a cost of RM200,000.
“Drain maintenance at Lintang Permai has been allocated RM200,000 while road maintenance work at Lorong Endah, Batu Uban; “Lorong Rumbia 1 and 2 and Lorong Nipah 4 each involve a cost of RM500,000,” he said at a press conference here today.
In addition, he said the work involved was the maintenance of road lines in Jalan Bukit Gambir, Jalan Sungai Dua, Batu Uban and surrounding areas involving an allocation of RM250,000.
Kumaresan informed that all the projects in question were obtained as a result of the issues and needs of the people raised in the Northeast District Development Action Committee (JTPD) meeting in addition to feedback received from local residents including through social media.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Penang Public Works Department (JKR) for their cooperation in making the project a success and promised to ensure that infrastructure issues and the needs of the people in Batu Uban are given due attention.
