PH candidate Ruji Ubi vows to secure Putrajaya allocations for Merotai development if elected, citing his 30-year public service experience
TAWAU: Pakatan Harapan candidate Datuk Ruji Ubi has positioned himself as the vital connection between Merotai constituents and the federal government.
The Merotai state seat contender said substantial development allocations are needed for the area and expressed confidence Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would consider these needs.
“I am confident that the Prime Minister will be willing to listen and consider the allocations needed for the benefit of the people of Merotai,” Ruji told Bernama after attending a Mesra Rakyat programme.
He emphasised that any federal allocation for Sabah must be spent responsibly without leakage and follow good governance principles.
“This is among the wishes of the Prime Minister, when he asked me to return and contest in the Merotai state seat,” he added.
Ruji highlighted his sacrifice of taking early retirement from public service to serve his hometown.
“I still had five more years of service as a department head or secretary-general at the ministry,” he said.
He hopes voters will consider this sacrifice and choose him to represent Merotai.
“I want to serve the Merotai constituency because I need to give back the knowledge and experience I have gained over nearly 30 years in public service,” Ruji explained.
Early voting for the Sabah State Election is scheduled for November 25 with polling day on November 29. – Bernama
