The 37-year-old’s journey involved taking the SPM examination ten times, completing STPM twice, juggling multiple jobs, and overcoming significant learning challenges before finally securing a teaching position.
Early Challenges and Determined Spirit
According to the sister, the man faced developmental delays from birth, attributed to complications during a breech delivery. Throughout childhood, he encountered difficulties with speech, information processing, and social engagement, often appearing disconnected from his surroundings.
His struggles attracted both physical and psychological bullying from peers, despite his father serving as a teacher at the same educational institution he attended.
Nevertheless, he remained determined to complete his formal education.
A Marathon of Examinations
His persistence manifested through repeated attempts at crucial examinations. After sitting for SPM ten times, he told his mother that his final try might truly be his last chance. The immense pressure frequently overwhelmed him emotionally.
But surrender was never an option.
He subsequently took the STPM examination twice before achieving the qualifications necessary for university admission. This opened the door to earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, followed by obtaining his DPLI teaching certification.
Working Through Adversity
Throughout this extended academic journey, he maintained employment in various positions to support himself financially. His work history included stints as a security guard at hospitals, schools, and elderly care facilities. He also assisted his father with agricultural work in paddy fields.

During his teaching position interview, panel members inquired about his OKU (Orang Kurang Upaya) card. He responded with complete honesty, explaining his official diagnosis as a slow learner.
Upon exiting the interview room, he immediately sought out his mother and broke down emotionally. His sister interpreted this moment as the release of years of accumulated struggle and determination.

The outcome exceeded the family’s hopes: he received official confirmation of his teaching appointment. Now, at 37-years-old, he stands at the beginning of a new chapter, having realized an ambition he pursued with unwavering commitment.
His sister compared him to the fictional character Forrest Gump—maintaining his gentle, innocent nature while authoring a narrative defined by exceptional perseverance and resilience.

In an earlier social media update, she shared a photograph from the day she accompanied her brother to university for his KPLI course. She humorously noted that although he’s chronologically older, she assumed the role of “older sister for the day,” ensuring all arrangements proceeded smoothly.
Their mother later explained that his learning difficulties likely originated from complications associated with his breech presentation at birth.
