Nearly 200,000 diesel owners benefit from BUDI programme

Nearly 200,000 private diesel vehicle owners receive BUDI MADANI subsidies in the first three days of implementation, says Treasury secretary-general.

PUTRAJAYA: Nearly 200,000 private diesel vehicle owners have benefited from the BUDI MADANI Diesel (BUDI Diesel) programme within the first three days of its implementation, said Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Johan Mahmood Merican.

Johan Mahmood said the implementation involves the usage of MyKad for individuals and fleet cards for the commercial sector, with only minor accessibility issues reported, similar to what was experienced during the rollout of previous targeted subsidy programmes.

“So far, the feedback we have received indicates that the implementation has been smooth, whether using MyKad or fleet cards. There have been no complaints or disruptions, as it is quite similar to the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95),” he said after visiting the Putrajaya farmers’ market here today.

He said members of the public who require assistance or further information regarding the initiative can obtain guidance and submit relevant applications.

“Based on feedback, there are cases where vehicles are registered under a father’s name but used by the child. This information is available on the budimadani.gov.my portal,” he said.

The government recently announced the implementation of BUDI Diesel at RM2.10 per litre effective July 1, to reduce subsidy leakages while ensuring assistance is channelled directly to those who genuinely need it.

Previously, the Ministry of Finance stated that the initiative is expected to benefit about 400,000 private diesel vehicle owners in Peninsular Malaysia, and 300,000 in Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territory of Labuan.
