Barisan Nasional leads in nine of 17 seats contested by DAP in Johor’s 16th state election, with voter turnout at 63.13%.
PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional (BN) is leading in nine of the 17 state seats contested by the Democratic Action Party (DAP) in the 16th Johor state election.
According to DAP’s election results website as of 6.15pm, BN is ahead in the state constituencies of Jementah, Bekok, Tangkak, Bentayan, Yong Peng, Mengkibol, Paloh, Johor Jaya, Perling, Bukit Permai and Pekan Nenas.
On June 1, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced the dissolution of the Johor State Legislative Assembly to pave the way for the 16th Johor state election.
In the 15th Johor state election held in March 2022, BN formed the state government after winning 40 of the 56 seats contested.
As of 4pm on Saturday, voter turnout stood at 63.13%.
According to an infographic released by the Election Commission (EC), 1,693,625 of the state’s 2,682,642 registered voters had cast their ballots.
