Aminuddin Harun and Anthony Loke named as PH candidates for Linggi and Chennah in the Negeri Sembilan state election.
KUALA PILAH: Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has been announced as Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) candidate for the Linggi seat in the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election.
Aminuddin, who is also Negeri Sembilan PH chairman, has held the Sikamat state constituency for four consecutive terms since 2008.
Also announced as a PH candidate was DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, who will defend the Chennah seat, which he has held since 2013.
The announcement was made by PH chairman and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the coalition’s candidate announcement ceremony, attended by its top leadership and thousands of supporters.
Also present were Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, PH communications director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, and the coalition’s election director, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said last night’s (July 14) ceremony marked a good start and expressed hope that the people would give the coalition the mandate to continue enhancing development and the well-being of Negeri Sembilan.
The Election Commission has set Aug 1 as polling day for the state election, with nomination day on July 18 and early voting on July 28.
PH is contesting all 36 seats in the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly. In the last state election held in August 2023, PH won 17 seats, Barisan Nasional 14 and Perikatan Nasional five.
