MCA Youth National Secretary Saw Fee Fung questions whether the party endorsed an alleged ‘understanding’ between BN and PAS ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state election.
SEREMBAN: MCA Youth National Secretary Saw Fee Fung questioned whether the party had agreed to any form of an alleged ‘understanding’ between Barisan Nasional (BN) and PAS ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state election.
In a Facebook post, she questioned whether MCA’s leadership, including its secretary-general and board of directors, had endorsed such an ‘understanding’ as well as whether political considerations had taken precedence over the party’s core principles.
Saw said she had repeatedly told voters during the Johor state election campaign a week ago that MCA had not collaborated with PAS and had urged support for BN to block any ‘green wave’.
“We have insisted on secularism and democracy for so long, have we given up?… What is the bottom line? What are the principles?,” she said.
Describing herself as a ‘political puritan’, Saw said she could not agree with such an approach, adding that the party risked becoming ‘the most hated version of ourselves’ if it compromised its long-held principles.
Yesterday, BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the coalition will contest only 25 seats in the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election as it seeks to reach an electoral understanding with other parties for remaining seats.
