Malaysian Football League promotes Kelantan Red Warrior to replace withdrawn PDRM, keeping the 2026-2027 Super League at 12 teams.

KUALA LUMPUR: The 2026-2027 Super League competition remains with 12 teams as the Malaysian Football League (MFL) today announced that Kelantan Red Warrior FC has been promoted following the withdrawal of PDRM FC.

MFL in a statement announced that Kelantan Red Warrior, who finished fourth in the A1 Semi-Pro League last season, has completed all documents related to the financial criteria to compete in the Super League.

“The Kota Bharu-based club is seen as more prepared than UM Damansara United FC, who are ranked sixth in the A1 League, and Bunga Raya FC in 12th place, who also submitted an application after obtaining an Extraordinary National License from the First Instance Body (FIB).

“However, another A1 League club, Armed Forces FC, did not submit an application to compete in the 2026-2027 Super League,” the statement said.

At the same time, MFL confirmed receiving the official letter of withdrawal from PDRM yesterday.

According to the local league governing body, PDRM’s decision to withdraw was made to focus on the club’s management restructuring process.

The presence of Kelantan Red Warrior thus completes the list of 12 clubs that will compete in the 2026-2027 Super League which is scheduled to open the competition on August 21.

The other eleven teams are defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), Kuching City FC, Selangor FC, Kuala Lumpur City FC, Terengganu FC, Star City FC previously known as Immigration FC, Negeri Sembilan FC, Penang FC, Sabah FC, DPMM FC and Melaka FC.
