ALOR SETAR: A total of 40 individuals from Universiti Utara Malaysia are stranded in Hatyai, Thailand due to severe flooding.

The group comprises 36 students and four lecturers from the Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy.

They were participating in the Thai-MYS Cultural Exchange Programme 2025 when floods hit the city.

UUM deputy vice-chancellor Prof Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed confirmed all members are safe.

The programme began on Monday and was scheduled to continue until November 30.

University authorities are coordinating steps to resume the programme once flood conditions improve.
