“To all interviewers and recruiters, I would like to share an important perspective.
“While I understand the responsibilities of your role, it is essential to treat every candidate with respect and professionalism.
“The company is not owned by any individual employee, and interview interactions should reflect courtesy, fairness and dignity. Education should always be matched by respectful behaviour,” the user wrote.
The post argued that interviewers should not act as though they own the company or look down on job applicants, reminding them that they are employees too and that professionalism should be reflected in both their education and their behaviour.
Although the post ended with an emotional outburst, many netizens said they understood the frustration behind the message, with some sharing their own experiences of being treated disrespectfully during job interviews.
Others pointed out that candidates often spend hours tailoring their CVs, preparing for interviews and taking leave from work, only to be met with dismissive attitudes, condescending remarks or interviewers who appear uninterested throughout the session.
Many also stressed that while interviewers are responsible for assessing whether someone is a good fit for a role, candidates are evaluating the company as well. They argued that the way applicants are treated during the recruitment process often leaves a lasting impression of an organisation’s culture and values.
“Don’t put people down with your words during an interview. That kind of attitude is completely unprofessional,” one user commented.
“Thank you, bro, for saying what so many of us have been thinking. I swear, this is so frustrating,” another added.
