Dewan Rakyat Speaker says youth parliament roadshow provides platform for Sabah youth to voice views and participate in democratic process
KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Youth Parliament roadshow in Sabah demonstrates Parliament’s strong commitment to developing youth leadership through inclusive engagement nationwide.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said the session offers Sabah youth a direct platform to express views on current issues, challenges they face, and aspirations they hope to advance.
He noted the roadshow, organised by Parliament Secretariat with Universiti Malaysia Sabah, carries the theme ‘Voice of Youth, Voice of Democracy.’
“This programme continues the first public dialogue session held on November 5 and 6 at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia,” he told reporters after attending the PBMy Roadshow at UMS.
Johari added that a key objective is introducing the five youth parties formed after the first dialogue, including Parti Generasi Progresif and Parti Gabungan Suara Belia.
“The formation of these parties symbolises youth readiness to organise themselves, think strategically and participate actively in our democratic process,” he said.
Johari stated the roadshow provides early exposure to the new PBMy structure for participants, particularly youth and students from Sabah’s higher education institutions.
“Overall, this session showcased the spirit of Malaysian youths – visionary, courageous in voicing views, and committed to building a mature, democratic nation,” he said. – Bernama
