Govt approves RM110.6 million PRR housing project in Perak for 2026

The government has approved a RM110.6 million public housing project in Perak for 2026, comprising 400 apartment units.

PETALING JAYA: The government has approved a RM110.6 million public housing project in Perak for 2026, comprising 400 apartment units under the People’s Residency Programme (PRR), the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) said.

The ministry said the project, approved under the First Rolling Plan (RP1) of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), will comprise 400 lift-equipped apartment units measuring 750 sq ft, complete with supporting facilities. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, subject to the completion of pre-implementation processes.

“Meanwhile, seven states — Johor, Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak — have been allocated funding for preliminary site works and land suitability studies for future PRR developments.

“The project involves an allocation of RM110.6 million for the construction of 400 lift-equipped apartment units measuring 750 sq ft, complete with supporting facilities,” the ministry said in a written reply to the Dewan Negara.

It added that construction is scheduled to commence in 2027, subject to the completion of the pre-implementation process.

“Efforts to strengthen the provision of quality, liveable and inclusive public housing will continue to meet the needs of the people, while ensuring housing developments are implemented in a planned, sustainable and locally responsive manner to improve the well-being and quality of life of Malaysians,” it said.

The ministry said the Madani Government remains committed to ensuring every Malaysian has access to quality, comfortable, safe and affordable housing through various housing initiatives undertaken by the federal and state governments, as well as the private sector.
