Deputy PM Ahmad Zahid warns residents in seven states to prioritise safety as MetMalaysia forecasts continuous heavy rain from November 25-26
KUALA LUMPUR: Residents in flood-prone areas must remain vigilant and prioritise safety following weather warnings for continuous heavy rain.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi issued the reminder as the Malaysian Meteorological Department forecasts persistent rainfall across several states from November 25-26.
He specifically addressed at-risk communities in Perak, Kedah, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Selangor and Pahang to stay informed about latest developments.
“Avoid flood areas, swift currents and overflowing rivers,” Ahmad Zahid posted on social media platform X.
“If instructed to evacuate, comply immediately for your personal safety and that of your family.”
The Central Disaster Management Committee chairman assured that relevant agencies were preparing and monitoring the situation closely.
MetMalaysia’s danger level warning for continuous rain until November 25 covers parts of Kedah, Penang, Perak and Kelantan.
Its severe level warning for the same period includes areas in Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Selangor, Kelantan and Terengganu.
An alert level warning remains active until tomorrow for specific locations in Pahang and Selangor.
Gua Musang in Kelantan and Kemaman in Terengganu will remain under alert until November 26.
