Train services in the Klang Valley and southern routes are disrupted after a wooden structure fell onto the overhead line system near Batang Benar.
PETALING JAYA: KTM Komuter and Electric Train Service (ETS) operations along the Klang Valley and southern routes were disrupted today after a wooden structure from a construction site under a Public Works Department (JKR) project fell onto the railway overhead line (OHL) system between Batang Benar and Labu, Negeri Sembilan.
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) said the incident occurred during construction works carried out by an external contractor, damaging the overhead line equipment and causing delays to train services along the affected route.
The railway operator said repair works on the overhead line system are currently underway, with its technical team working to restore normal operations as soon as possible.
“Preliminary findings indicate that a construction structure from the project’s wayleave area fell onto the overhead line during the works, disrupting KTM Komuter and ETS operations,” KTMB said in a statement today.
Following the disruption, KTM Komuter services from Batu Caves and KL Sentral to Pulau Sebang will terminate at Bangi Station, while services from Seremban to Pulau Sebang will continue as scheduled.
There will be no KTM Komuter services operating between Bangi and Seremban until repair works are completed.
KTMB advised passengers to use alternative transport options at integrated stations, including KL Sentral, Bandar Tasik Selatan and Kajang, to continue their journeys to Seremban.
For affected ETS services, shuttle bus arrangements have been made at KL Sentral, Kajang, Bandar Tasik Selatan and Seremban stations.
KTMB has also deployed three shuttle buses to assist KTM Komuter passengers travelling between Seremban, Tiroi, Batang Benar, Labu and Bangi stations.
ETS passengers who choose not to continue their journey from their departure station will be entitled to a full refund of their fare.
KTMB said repair works are expected to be completed by 10pm, with updates on train operations to be provided periodically.
Passengers requiring further assistance have been advised to approach station staff.
KTMB apologised for the inconvenience caused and thanked passengers for their patience and cooperation.
