Five states see flood evacuee numbers rise this evening

Terengganu, Selangor, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan and Perak report increased flood evacuees, while Perlis, Kelantan and Kedah see declines as relief centres remain active.

KUALA LUMPUR: Five states recorded increased flood evacuee numbers this evening while three others reported declines.

Terengganu saw the largest increase, with evacuees rising to 8,909 people from 2,742 families across 119 relief centres.

Several roads in Kuala Terengganu have been closed to light vehicles due to flooding conditions.

Selangor reported 3,542 evacuees from 973 families, up from 3,125 people this afternoon.

The state has 27 relief centres operating across five districts including Klang and Kuala Selangor.

Pahang’s evacuee count rose to 1,705 people from 538 families, with Kuantan recording the highest number at 639 people.

Perak saw evacuees increase to 6,429 people from 1,980 families across 47 relief centres.

Manjung district continued to record the highest number of victims with 2,260 people.

Negeri Sembilan reported 313 evacuees from 127 families, nearly double the afternoon figure.

Perlis recorded a decrease to 7,116 evacuees from 7,345 this afternoon.

All victims remain housed in 24 relief centres across Padang Besar, Kangar and Arau.

Kelantan’s evacuee numbers dropped slightly to 3,448 people from 1,273 families.

Water levels in several major rivers in Kelantan remained above danger thresholds.

Kedah reported 3,758 evacuees from 1,193 families, down from 4,280 this afternoon.

All victims from Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar and Pokok Sena remain at 18 relief centres.

In Melaka, 20 people from four families have been placed in four relief centres in Alor Gajah.

Three rivers in Melaka recorded danger levels after continuous heavy rain since yesterday.
