Four Colombian nationals face charges for allegedly breaking into two houses in Kuala Lumpur and stealing cash and jewellery worth over RM150,000.
KUALA LUMPUR: Four Colombian men have been charged in the Sessions Court here with breaking into two houses and stealing cash and jewellery two months ago.
Jorge Ivan Cardona Sanchez, 35, Christian Camilo Cortes Sanchez, 32, Oscar Jesus Gonzales Nieto, 30, and Jhon Pablo Espitia Riverros, 47, pleaded not guilty to the charges, which were read to them in Spanish.
In the first case before Judge Suhaila Haron, the four are jointly accused of breaking into a house in Lorong Setia Bistari, Bukit Damansara on October 10.
They are alleged to have stolen jewellery and cash in various currencies amounting to RM150,000, belonging to an Australian man and a local woman.
The charges are under Section 457 and Section 379 of the Penal Code for housebreaking and theft, read together with Section 34.
In a separate hearing before Judge Dr Azrol Abdullah, the same men were charged with jointly breaking into a house in Desa Sri Hartamas on October 11.
They are accused of stealing possessions belonging to a 38-year-old woman at that location.
No bail was granted in either case, and both courts set January 9 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutors Nor Aisyah Mohamed Zanyuin and Mohamad Ikhwan Mohd Nasir conducted the prosecution.
All the accused were represented by lawyer Nurshafiqa Balqish Jaffri.
