The government will build a digital ecosystem to empower industries to innovate and thrive, focusing on infrastructure, security, and talent development.

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has a responsibility to build an ecosystem enabling industries to innovate and thrive in the digital era.

Minister of Digital Gobind Singh Deo said the government recognises the importance of technology and the need for industry to have the necessary building blocks.

“It is important because we continuously talk about building ecosystems that will benefit and empower industry,” he said.

He stated the ultimate goal is to empower industry to leverage this ecosystem and deliver needed technological solutions.

Gobind was speaking at the artificial intelligence (AI) Leadership Conference in Kuala Lumpur.

He said the Ministry of Digital was established to develop strategies for key digital areas like infrastructure, security, trust, and talent.

While the government will support industry growth, it also needs guidance and suggestions from industry players to build the ecosystem effectively.

“I am quite certain that if we put our minds together, we will ensure that not only do we build an ecosystem that is going to help each and every one of us, but ultimately we will also make sure that no one is left behind,” he added.

The Asia School of Business hosted the AI-Powered Leadership Conference, convening global AI pioneers, industry players, and policymakers.

Asia School of Business chief executive officer Professor Joseph Cherian said the conference aimed to equip the region’s decision-makers to navigate AI’s impact.

He said leaders must now pair technical literacy with sound judgement and ethical clarity as intelligent systems become central to strategy. – Bernama
